S + D | ENGAGED! | Chilliwack Wedding Photographer

An engagement session isn't just to get that one shot to place in the newspaper to announce the upcoming ceremony...it is a great way to CELEBRATE the proposal and engagement and have some fun with your wife or husband to be! The engagement session is also a great way for the couple to get to know the photographer, and vice versa; a nice "break the ice" activity. I get to know the couple a bit better, see what their style is, and they get to know me a bit better and get more comfortable, this way they know exactly what to expect from me on their big day. I also get to know a couples' comfort level and their personalities.
So, this is why I include an engagement session in all of my wedding packages, I highly recommend them, not only for some photos for your reception, but also to make yourself more at ease in front of the camera.
Last weekend I shot an engagement session on the beach at Harrison Hot Springs, and ended it at the Train Museum in Agassiz. It was beautiful out- an hour or two before sunset-goldon lighting...I loved it!
Can not wait for the wedding, guys!

Fall Family Session | Chilliwack Photographer

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing this super cute family. They were such naturals, and I had such a great time. The weather was sooo full of charactor! I loved it! The clouds were dark and moody, and even though we were sitting on the edge of a down-pour, we had just enough time to get LOTS of great shots before! Here are some of my favorites from the session...as usual I had such a hard time choosing which ones to post =)

E and J were married this past Sunday at The Falls, Chilliwack, BC. The weather was beautiful, the ceremony was beautiful, it was a beautiful day. Here is a sneak peak at the beautiful bride...more to come soon.

J + R are MARRIED! | Chilliwack Wedding Photographer

J and R were married last Saturday at the Chilliwack United Church...it was elegant...beautiful. I had such an awesome time at this wedding!! The bride and groom are such a nice couple...and soo cute together too ;) Family formals were immediately followed at the City Hall Museum and we then continued the event with wedding party photos at Garrison Crossing!

This is how the day began...

The bridal party met up at Undine's on Young to have their hair done...
They then continued on to the bride and groom's beautiful home...such gorgeous decor throughout the house--I loved it!!--to finish up and get dressed.

Aren't their rings sooo pretty?? The bride's engagement ring actually locks in-between the wedding band..
And the location of this ring shot I give credit to my lovely assistant ;) Great idea she had!

I LOVE THESE SHOTS OF THE BRIDE!! A few of my many faves....such classic beauty to them...

And their cake! I just loved the colors she chose for the wedding...such a nice combination.

Enterprising Moms Network | Fraser Valley Photographer

My mom originally told me about this fabulous network of women. She had seen a segment about them on the news and thought it would be something good for me to look into. I rsvp'd for the first Fraser Valley chapter meeting and a few weeks later Eileen Fisher (Chapter director for the Fraser Valley) contacted me asking for the favour of me sponsering the event and taking a few candid shots! I of course loved the idea, and last night I attended my first meeting.
The Enterprising Moms Network is a network for Moms (although you do not need to be a mom to belong to the network, you do need to be a woman) that offers a place to learn, network, chat and get to know other women who are moms and also business women. The meetings are monthly throughout the year with a guest speaker at each meeting.
With chapters throughout BC, and one starting up in Toronto, as well as a sister network in Seattle...there is sure to be a network of women in your area.
Last night we had the pleasure of listening to Kristi Ferguson of Fraser Valley Pulse.

End of Summer is approaching...

So here I am, 1am writing a blog post...oh my, oh my...I have no idea why haha! I haven't been able to sleep this past week, I've just got soo much on my mind. Weddings (friends + clients), portraits, my little girl, and her very first birthday party...which is coming up here before I know it! I can not believe that it is already mid-August, and summer is almost over! On the upside--my baby girl has an amazing day in her life coming up! I am soo excited for her =)
I recently shot a BEAUTY session...this is gorgeous "A"...I had a wonderful time meeting her--and I think we got some amazing shots!

Summer Family | Chilliwack Family Session

I had the pleasure of photographing this cute young family last weekend! The kids were definately a handful for the pictures...but, I loved it, and hey...these are the photos that are the memory makers, right? =) Who wants stiff, posed photos to look back at, you can't see any charactor or personality in those!

I love this first one...I think it really depicts how the session went =)

Stairway to Heaven?

Last night we went to Party in the Park in downtown Chilliwack. It is always such a nice evening out with the family :) Well...to be honest, last night wasn't as good as the last time, but I am more than certian that was because everyone was feeling pretty tired. It was still a nice time though. I, of course had my camera along with me and was taking pictures of whatever caught my eye hehe. I captured many of my baby girl dancing away to the music...her little body groovin' away, bending over backwards in awkward positions...she's just too darn cute!
At the end of the night just before we were getting ready to leave and walk home...I caught what is to me, one of the most spectacular photos I have taken thus far (landscape wise)...

When I got home and loaded the images on my computer I was so proud of this one shot...does it not look like the stairway to heaven?

The "steps" are actually the roof of one of the buildings at the park...funny what a camera can do :)

Ok, so here are more photos from the day, as promised :) Sorry for the delay! I've been super-duper busy lately. I'll start the post off with photos from the bridal prep. K had 6 bridesmaids there for her on her special day!
I thought it would be interesting to find out a bit more about the history of the "bridesmaid" and to know what their role was and what it has evolved into in the present day.

Here are some facts that I found at "The Dessy Group" Wedding Planning Tips:

In early Roman times, bridesmaids formed a sort of "protective shield", dressed in similar outfits, as they accompanied the bride to the groom's village. They were to intervene if any wayward thugs or vengeful suiters tried to hurt the bride or steal her dowry.
The Western bridesmaid tradition seems to have originated from later Roman law, which required ten witnesses at a wedding to outsmart evil spirits believed to attend the ceremonies. The bridesmaids and ushers dressed in identical clothing to the bride and groom, so the evil spirits wouldn't know who was getting married!
In Victorian wedding photographs it can take a bit of inspection to identify the bride and groom from among the other members of the bridal party!
Today, the bridal party continues to support the bride, but not by warding off evil spirits or thugs and vengeful suiters, but by providing support staff and an advisory board. They are also an honoured member of the bridal party, a special guest at the reception, as well as the brides "special assistant".
They are said to be caring helpers and thoughtful organizers :)

C + K are getting married!! | Chilliwack Engagement and Wedding Photography

This was a great shoot. We started the session in downtown Chilliwack. K proposed to C under the clock tower so we thought it was a must to start the session downtown and of course get one under the clock!! We also included their awesome dog, Charlie for some family photos :)

I had a very lovely maternity session with B. She is very excited for the arrival of her new bundle of joy...and in case anyone is wondering, I refer to my clients by the first letter of their first name, just for their own consideration :) I just thought I would add that in now..haha..
Anyways, back to the session...we had a great time, and thanks so much to her sister M for finding me :D

This was a super fun shoot! C and her prom date/boyfriend were just soo cute together. We ended up not having as much time as anticipated but we still got some SUPER cute shots :) We were lucky the rain held off but I was ready to hit the Gazeboes and whip out the umbrellas just in case ;)

Finally new blog!!

Hey guys, so my new blog is finally here :) My old one was with typepad and had a completely different look to it. Now I am with blogspot (which I am liking sooo much better, btw) and the look of it matches my website, yay! :) This one is just soo much better, and now when I post photos they will be much bigger, which is great, because isn't that the point of my blog?
